Seeking the right talent
On the HBR website, George Anders explores why so many companies say they don’t yet have the right talent in their organization, and what they need to change. Per Marc Effron, a huge percentage (82 percent!) of organizations say they’re either treading water or flat-out losing in the “war for talent.”
Among the key advice from Anders: be sure you know what you’re seeking. From his article: “Annmarie Neal, vice president for talent acquisition at Cisco, urged attendees to tie their talent-assessment systems more closely to their companies’ strategic priorities. Simple advice, but for many companies, it was a ‘Eureka!’ moment. ” (Emphasis mine.)
